BUCKET ELEVATOR is used to elevate lumpy, granules or powdery material from bottom to the given height in closed casing. Elevators are of Centrifugal, Continuous or Positive discharge type. Bucket elevator consists of a series of buckets mounted on chain or belt operating over head and foot pulleys and are rotated by means of drives. Takes up provides to compensate for variation in length of chain or belt. Material is fed at the bottom from hopper, fills the volume of buckets, which take material from bottom to upward and throw it in discharge spout. A steel casing usually encloses the bucket line and head and foot pulleys. Range of height is upto 30 meter and the capacity is up to few ton/hr. Selection of shape of bucket, type of drive, selection chain or belt, type of takes up, type of elevator, type of discharge, type of housing, construction of material etc. depend upon requirement. Applications are in grains, cereals, ice, food stuffs, cement, coal, chemicals, minerals etc.
