AIR CLASSIFIER is a centrifugal type of classifier used to separate dry powdered materials into coarse and fine fractions with closed or open circuit. It is not a pulverizer but is used to obtain desirable uniformity of particles distribution either by removing coarser particles like grit, free iron, their oxides, heavy impurities, silica etc or by removing fines or light foreign material as to de-dust a product. It can handle material from 60-350 meshes.
CONSTRUCTION
The AIR CLASSIFIER is a vertical self-contained unit. It consists of one or two raw of whizzer blades, fitted on disc, rotate in a whizzer cone. Deflector blades rotate in the top chamber of outer drum. Vertical hollow shaft is supported by heavy duty bearings and rotate through motor and v-belts. Body also consists of upper and inner whizzer cone, outer and inner drum, bearing housing, tail cone, fine cone, dampers, deflector vanes, hopper etc. A stationary tube is mounted co-axially inside the hollow shaft while distributor plate is fitted at the bottom of lower hub of whizzer blade. Motor rotates shaft, distributor plates, raw of whizzer blades and deflector blades to produce the internal air current circuit.
